A Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) official was Thursday rewarded with a cash gift of One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000) by Alhaji Ajayi Adekunle, C.E.O of Ajayi Adekunle & Co., for an uncommon and impressive approach to work at easing traffic congestion.

According to Crime Puzzle, the recipient, Lateef Kabir, was spotted by the benefactor in a viral video on Sunday, April 23, 2023, dislodging flood water with bare hands on the Odo Iya-Alaro Bridge inward Ojota area of Lagos State.

“He went out of his way to ensure free flow of traffic, occasioned by flood, an exceptionally selfless act and initiative that attracted commendations from members of the public”, LASTMA’s Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq, said in a press release.

Adebayo, in his speech during the presentation, commended Alhaji Adekunle for his kind gesture in recognizing the good act and selfless service rendered by the officer, even as he urged motorists, particularly commercial bus drivers, to always obey traffic personnel on duty, to avoid traffic bottleneck and engender free flow of traffic.

In the same vein, Alhaji Saheed Bamidele, a Real Estate Management Consultant, who represented Alhaji Adekunle, called on other LASTMA officials to take a cue from the recipient by exhibiting positive values that are worthy of emulation.

In his speech, Bamidele quoted Alhaji Adekunle as saying, “I was personally touched when I saw a LASTMA officer on social media using his bare hands to dislodge floodwater into drainages on Odo Iya-Alaro Bridge, just to ease traffic congestions on the bridge inward Ojota under the heavy rain on Sunday, 23rd of April, 2023”.
