20 medical students who were abducted in Benue State have been successfully rescued by security forces, bringing relief to their families and sparking a wave of jubilation across the State.

 

The students, travelling in a convoy through the Otukpo Local Government Area en route to Enugu State, were ambushed by armed bandits last Thursday evening.

 

The brazen attack led to their capture and subsequent demands from the kidnappers for a ransom of ₦50 million.

According to reports from security sources, the rescue operation was meticulously coordinated by the office of the National Security Adviser, in collaboration with various security agencies including the police, Department of State Services (DSS), and military personnel.

The Benue State government also played a crucial role in supporting the operation, which culminated in the safe recovery of the students.
