The Catholic bishop of Auchi, Most Reverend, Dr. Gabriel Dunia on Thursday bemoaned the deplorable level of insecurity in the country, calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to proffer lasting solution to the security challenges or resign his position as President of the country.
The Cleric made this call while delivering an address at the formal opening of Sancta Maria Catholic College of Nursing Sciences, Uzairue in Etsako West Local Government of Edo State.
He said it was obvious that Nigeria soldiers are overwhelmed by the BokoHaram insurgents as they are being killed in multitude.
He explained that the security in the country has degenerated to the lowest ebb because Nigeria has imaginary leaders who do not care about the security of lives of the people.
The Cleric added: “If they (leaders) are not ready to save lives and provide security, they should come out, tell us and resign.
“So that the opportunity will be given to persons who have the fear of God to protect the people.”
While assuring the guests at the event of professional medical service delivery and training at the college, the Cleric appealed to the public for financial support and donations to enable more facilities to be provided for the College
He charged qualified nurses to make themselves available as employment into the College would be conducted soon.
The facilitator of the project, Mrs Ruth Agbi said that the establishment of the College was birthed out of the fact that, most of the school of sciences in the State are in southern Edo.
According to her: “When Bishop Gabriel Dunia brought the idea, I welcomed it because when you look at Edo State, most of the School of Sciences: nurses and mid-wifery are down Southern Edo and none up here. I accepted the offer to do our best in bringing the project to fruition.
“The College would help in the treatment of pregnant women and child delivery.”
She expressed delight at the completion of the project.
Highlight of the event was the laying of foundation for the construction of College hostel.
