The Chairman Delta State Chapter of Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) Hon. Barr. Victor Ebonka has revealed that the newly inaugurated Council Chairmen will prioritize Primary Health Care, Security and Environment in their administration.
Hon. Ebonka disclosed this today when he visited the Chairman Delta State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Isioma Okobah in her office.
The ALGON Chairman who is also the Chairman Ika North East L.G.A said understanding the importance of health care, the council chairmen are poised towards impacting meaningfully in provision of health care mostly primary Health Care.
He noted that Primary Health Care remains the easiest and accessible health service provider, adding that the challenges being experienced in PHCs will be looked at.
” I am conversant with PHC During my first tenure, my administration supported PHCs. Ika North East was among the first Local Government to establish Local Government Health Authority. Despite the paucity of funds relevant health commodities were purchased for use in the various PHCs”.
Hon. Ebonka commended The State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for his leadership disposition and the commitment to Provision of Sustainable health care for Deltans mostly the Contributory Health Insurance Scheme which has brought Succour to Rural Dwellers.
Earlier the Chairman of DSPHCDA Dr Isioma Okobah expressed the delight of the Agency to the ALGON Chairman for the Visit.
While listing some areas ALGON can strengthen the activities of PHC, Dr Okobah applauded the contribution of Council Chairmen towards Primary Health Care.
