The Deputy Chief Whip of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Richard Edosa, has urged the Benin people at home and in the diaspora to unite in building a stronger and more prosperous Edo State.
Speaking at the just-concluded 2025 Benin Summit held in Benin City on Friday, Edosa emphasised that unity remains the bedrock of meaningful development. “The Benins both at home and in diaspora need to understand the need to come together because when we are united, we can build our State,” he said, underscoring his passion for his roots and his commitment to always contribute to the progress of his people.
Convener of the summit, Mr. Osaro Onaiwu, explained that the initiative was borne out of a vision for transformation. According to him, the summit seeks to uplift Benin women, youth, widows, and the people across the seven local government areas of Benin-speaking communities. “The brain behind this is transformation. How do we transform the Benin people? This platform is set up to elevate the Benins,” Onaiwu said.
The summit attracted a cross-section of Benin sons and daughters from diverse professional and social backgrounds. Participants pledged a renewed commitment to fostering unity, with many hailing the summit as a turning point for collective development and cultural solidarity.
Participants noted that the successful hosting of the 2025 Benin Summit has rekindled optimism that the Benin people, bound by a shared history and heritage, can leverage unity to drive progress in Edo and beyond.
