2025: IGP Unveils Strategic Policing Plan to Tackle Crime and Boost Efficiency

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has directed all police commands and formations nationwide to adopt a New Year Strategic Action Plan aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and reducing crime.

This initiative, announced through a statement by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, emphasises the need for a proactive approach to law enforcement as the nation enters 2025.

The plan focuses on fostering professionalism, strengthening community relations, and deploying intelligence-led policing strategies to address security challenges. Key measures include enhanced training programmes, capacity-building initiatives, and public awareness campaigns to ensure officers are equipped to meet evolving demands.

IGP Egbetokun stressed the importance of strategic planning, urging officers to rely on data and analysis to pre-empt and combat criminal activities. He also highlighted the need for attitudinal change within the force and greater commitment to public safety.

To ensure seamless execution of the plan, the IGP is scheduled to engage virtually with Strategic Commanders on Monday, 13th January 2025. This meeting will serve as a platform to outline expectations, provide guidance, and reinforce the importance of integrity and professionalism in policing.

The initiative comes as part of on-going efforts to build public trust and ensure a safer environment for communities across the nation.
