The Labour Party (LP) has rejected the verdict of the supreme court that confirmed the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the February 25 election. Julius Abure, the LP national chairman, expressed his disappointment in the judgement, calling on the international community to protect democracy in Nigeria.
According to him, the decision of the apex court is “shocking and surprising” and a clear indication that Nigeria’s institutions are not working.
He also accused the executive of hijacking both the judiciary and the legislature, which he believes is a sign of dictatorship. Abure urged the international community to stand with the millions of Nigerians who are already pushed beyond their limits into unnecessary hardship and penury.
Despite the setback, he encouraged Nigerians not to lose hope, stating that a new Nigeria is still possible.
