President Bola Tinubu is set to depart Abuja for Berlin, Germany on Saturday, November 18, 2023. He will be attending the G20 Compact with Africa (CwA) Conference hosted by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
The conference aims to enhance economic and business cooperation among members of the CwA with a view to outlining concrete measures to boost investments in critical areas such as energy, trade, infrastructure, and new technologies, among others.
President Tinubu will also be leading Nigeria’s delegation to participate in the Fourth G20 Investment Summit, which is co-hosted by the German government and German business associations.
This visit is a testament to President Tinubu’s commitment to diplomatic reciprocity, as he is honouring the invitation from the German Chancellor following his visit to Abuja and Lagos, Nigeria, in October 2023. During his discussions with Chancellor Scholz, President Tinubu highlighted the need for more German companies to invest in the Nigerian market and invited them to consider investing in transportation, mining, and energy sectors, among others.
It is worth noting that Nigeria and Germany have recorded an increase in bilateral trade volume from two to three billion Euros between 2021 and 2022.
The Nigerian delegation, which will include the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Mr. Wale Edun, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, and the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, will follow up on productive meetings previously conducted with high-ranking representatives from German business organizations.
President Tinubu will return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the conference.
