In a powerful demonstration of faith and solidarity, protesters in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, organized a Sunday church service at the Old Airport Roundabout as part of the ongoing #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest, which began on Thursday.
The service drew a significant crowd, including Christian and Muslim leaders, as well as former Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung. The protesters, holding Nigerian flags, blocked the Old Airport Roundabout, forcing motorists to find alternative routes within the metropolis.
Philip Madaki, one of the protesters who arrived at the site around 7:30 am, expressed the symbolic importance of the church service. “I have been participating in the protest since it began on Thursday, and today being Sunday, we are continuing with the protest with a church service,” Madaki stated.
He elaborated on the spiritual aspect of their protest, emphasizing their belief in divine intervention. “As the protest is ongoing, we believe that God Almighty has not abandoned the country and its citizens, and we know He has the power to turn the hearts of kings in whichever direction He wants,” he said.
The protesters hope that through their faith and persistent efforts, Nigerian leaders will recognize the suffering caused by bad governance and harsh economic policies and take steps to improve the situation for the country’s citizens.
