President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Abu Dhabi, marking the beginning of his participation in the 2025 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW). The summit, set to run from January 12 to 18, brings together global leaders to discuss and drive forward the agenda for sustainable development.
Upon his arrival, President Tinubu was warmly welcomed by Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, along with senior government officials from the Emirati leadership. The Nigerian president was personally invited by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, to attend this prestigious gathering.
This year’s theme, ‘The Nexus of Next: Supercharging Sustainable Progress,’ will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, and civil society representatives to chart a course for a sustainable economy and new pathways for socio-economic development. ADSW aims to foster collaboration and accelerate the transformation to a green economy while advancing prosperity globally.
Held annually for over 15 years, the event has become a critical platform for forging high-value partnerships, driving innovation in clean energy, and addressing key global challenges. Past summits have led to significant agreements and strategic alliances between governments, businesses, and environmental leaders.
During his participation, President Tinubu is expected to highlight Nigeria’s ongoing reforms, particularly in energy, transportation, public health, and economic development. His address will focus on the country’s efforts to enhance energy security and build a more sustainable future for its citizens.
In addition to the Summit, President Tinubu is set to hold discussions with the leadership of the UAE to explore areas of mutual interest and strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations.
The President is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, and other senior officials. Following his engagements in Abu Dhabi, President Tinubu is scheduled to return to Nigeria on Thursday, January 16.
