A 25-year-old woman, Promise Eze, has been rescued by police after she was found unconscious and bound in a hotel room in Wuse, Abuja, in what is suspected to be a ritual attack.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command confirmed that the victim, who hails from Ebonyi State, had her mouth sealed with adhesive tape by a man she met online. The suspect, identifying himself as Emmanuel Okoro from Lagos State, checked into the hotel on 30 January 2025 and lured the victim to the location.
According to the police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, hotel staff alerted authorities on 31 January at about 11:30 a.m. after noticing suspicious activity. Upon arrival, officers discovered the woman restrained in the bathroom, her hands and legs tied.
The victim recounted that the suspect brandished a dagger to threaten her before subduing and restraining her. Before fleeing the scene, he allegedly stole her two mobile phones and made a phone call to suspected accomplices, stating that he was regrouping before returning to “finish the job.”
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect, while the victim has been taken to Wuse District Hospital for medical care. Investigations are ongoing.
