A commercial motorcyclist, Adekunle Frances, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly attacking a security officer with a charm-laced whip at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) Mini Campus, Ago-Iwoye.
According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, the 20-year-old suspect not only used the alleged charm but also physically assaulted the officer during an altercation. The security official, Idowu Joshua, had reportedly asked Frances to re-park his motorcycle after he dropped off a passenger and stopped in a restricted area. However, the suspect allegedly refused, leading to a confrontation that turned violent.
While the law does not explicitly recognise “criminal charm,” Odutola confirmed that the suspect would be prosecuted for assault and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace. The police have visited the scene, and investigations are ongoing.
