Governor Monday Okpebholo has reinforced his commitment to security by donating a brand-new Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) and patrol vans to the Commissioner of Police, CP Betty Enekpen Isokpen Otimenyin. The gesture, which took place at Government House in Benin City, was met with widespread enthusiasm.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Governor Okpebholo praised CP Isokpen Otimenyin as a resolute and capable officer, highlighting her impressive track record in law enforcement. He recalled their long-standing acquaintance dating back to 1994 in Jos, where he had predicted her rise to the rank of Commissioner.
“I have followed her career closely and have full confidence in her abilities. Today, we stand together to combat crime in our State, and with CP Betty Enekpen Isokpen at the helm, I am certain we will make significant strides in securing our communities,” the Governor stated.
CP Isokpen Otimenyin, in response, expressed gratitude for the support from the State government, affirming her commitment to tackling crime. She assured residents that under her leadership, criminals would have no hiding place, warning those engaging in unlawful activities to desist or face the full force of the law.
The visit also served as an opportunity for the police chief to strengthen ties with the government and align security strategies for a safer Edo State.
CP Isokpen Otimenyin makes history as the first female Commissioner of Police in Edo State since 1963. Before her deployment, she served as the Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration at the Force Intelligence Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
