Breaking: Bandits Kidnap National Qur’an Recitation Champion, Family

A group of armed bandits has abducted a celebrated Qur’an recitation champion, Abdulsalam Rabi’u Faskari, along with his father and brothers in Katsina State.

The incident took place on Tuesday evening near Labin Bangori as the family was returning to their hometown of Faskari. Abdulsalam, a medical student at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, had just been honoured by Governor Dikko Radda in Katsina following his victory in the 39th National Qur’anic Recitation Competition, held in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.

A local government official in Faskari, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the abduction, stating: “Malam Rabe Faskari and his five children, including Abdulsalam, were taken by bandits at Bangori along Yankara road. There has been no contact from them since the attack.”

Abdulsalam achieved national recognition after securing first place in the male category for memorising 60 Hizbs of the Qur’an.
