Easter: Fears Grow Over Disturbing Rituals Masquerading as Tradition

As millions across the country prepare for sacred Easter celebrations — from water baptism and foot-washing to holy communion — alarming warnings have surfaced, suggesting that not all religious rites carried out in churches today are as innocent or divinely inspired as they appear.

Concerns are mounting over claims that some of these rituals, often viewed as holy and symbolic of Christ’s love, may in fact be deeply corrupted — spiritually defiled and covertly dangerous.

According to a growing number of whistle-blowers and spiritual observers, certain Easter practices are being infiltrated by dark spiritual elements, turning what should be solemn acts of faith into alleged rituals of bondage. The most disturbing of the claims centre on the water used in foot-washing ceremonies, which, it is alleged, is contaminated with spiritually tainted substances — including fluids from mortuaries. These fluids, sources say, are believed to carry invisible spiritual attachments that could harm unsuspecting participants.

“They are not just washing feet,” warned one faith leader who spoke under anonymity. “They’re washing people’s souls in something unclean, both physically and spiritually. It is a gateway, and most have no idea what they are stepping into.”

Even more alarming are claims about communion — long regarded as a sacred remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice. Critics now allege that in certain circles, communion has been twisted into a spiritual trap. Rather than reaffirming one’s covenant with God, it is claimed that these ceremonies forge new, unseen covenants — ones that participants never consciously agreed to, but which could bind them spiritually to forces operating in darkness.

The controversy doesn’t end there. Accusations have also been levelled against some charismatic prophets and “spiritual fathers”, who are said to no longer be guided by divine inspiration but by secret pacts allegedly made in Benin — pacts designed to spiritually enslave their followers under the guise of tradition and worship.

“Every time someone takes part in these rituals without discernment, they risk exchanging their spiritual liberty for invisible chains,” said one ex-member of a now-controversial church movement. “These aren’t harmless customs. They’re re-enactments of dark rites that most participants don’t even realise they’re part of.”

The spiritual ramifications, they say, can extend beyond the individual — affecting families, futures, and faith journeys. There are chilling reports of individuals who returned from Easter events confused, traumatised, or spiritually destabilised, only later realising they had been exposed to something far more sinister than they could have imagined.

While some religious leaders have dismissed the claims as fear-mongering, others have urged caution. “It’s time we told the truth,” one minister said during a recent webcast. “Too many are being led blindly. Discernment is critical. Not everything that claims to be of Christ, is.”

The warnings come as spiritual warfare discourse continues to rise within Pentecostal and Charismatic circles. For many, this Easter is not just a time of reflection and resurrection, but a spiritual battleground — and one where blind participation could come at a grave cost.

As services begin across the country this weekend, churchgoers are being urged to pray, to ask for spiritual discernment, and to be wary of unfamiliar rituals — no matter how traditional they may seem.

“Be cautious,” says one widely circulated message. “Ask God for discernment before you submit. Some never made it back.”
