The Chief Press Secretary to the Edo State Governor, Mr Fred Itua, has been honoured with a prestigious award for Digitalisation by Pinnacle Builder Homes and Properties, in recognition of his exceptional contributions to modern media and governance communication.
The award ceremony, which took place in Benin City, celebrated Mr Itua’s role in effectively utilising digital platforms to project the activities and achievements of the Edo State Government under the leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo.
Chief Executive Officer of Pinnacle Builder Homes and Properties, Mr Samson Areladia, noted that the award was a well-deserved recognition of Mr Itua’s dedication, professional excellence, and long-standing service in the media industry. He praised Itua’s innovative use of digital tools to engage the public and enhance transparency in governance.
In his acceptance remarks, Mr Itua expressed surprise and gratitude, describing the award as a significant encouragement to remain committed to excellence. “This award came as a surprise to me, and I did not lobby for it. It shows that people are watching, even when no one is applauding. I dedicate this to the good people of Edo, my colleagues in the media, and of course, to my boss, Governor Monday Okpebholo, who has provided me with the platform to serve,” he said.
Mr Itua urged public servants to remain diligent and professional in their duties, noting that both praise and criticism are part of public life. He also commended journalists in Edo State for their continued support and objectivity, acknowledging their role in helping communicate government policies to the public.
“This award is not just about me; it is a collective achievement. Journalists in Edo have played an enormous role in making our work visible, whether by sharing our stories or holding us accountable. Their contributions are invaluable,” he added.
Also recognised at the event was the Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr Festus Alenkhe, who thanked the organisers for the honour and pledged to continue supporting media development and societal growth.
