A coalition of Muslim organisations in Edo State has publicly declared its full support for Governor Monday Okpebholo’s ongoing campaign against cultism, describing the initiative as a crucial battle “for the soul of Edo State.”
In a letter addressed to the Governor and made available to Newsmen, the Coalition of Muslim Organizations in Edo State (CMOS), led by its Coordinator Sirajudeen Muhammad, hailed the Governor’s firm stance as an act of true statesmanship.
“You have given voice to the voiceless, hope to the helpless and fear to those who have, for far too long, held our communities hostage through violence, intimidation and death,” the letter stated.
CMOS commended the Governor’s commitment to confronting what it called the “insidious menace of cultism,” adding that the administration’s efforts transcend politics and governance. The group underscored its alignment with the government’s objectives and pledged to play an active role in the anti-cultism drive.
In their declaration, CMOS vowed to support the government not only with prayers but also by organising enlightenment programmes, peace rallies and other public initiatives aimed at promoting moral values, peace and security across the State.
The coalition further urged all stakeholders — including community leaders, civil society and religious bodies — to unite in restoring peace to areas devastated by cult-related violence. They described Governor Okpebholo’s resolve as a source of hope for the law-abiding citizens of Edo State.
Concluding their message, the group offered prayers for divine guidance and strength for the Governor, assuring him of their continued support in what they described as a moral and civic crusade.
