Personnel of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) have arrested a man wanted in connection with a series of heinous crimes, including ritual killings and kidnapping, as he attempted to escape the country on a motorcycle.
The Comptroller General of the NIS, Kemi Nandap, confirmed on Thursday that the suspect, Obi Levi Obieze — also known as Levi Obu Onyeka — was intercepted at the Gbaji checkpoint along the Badagry-Seme Road by the Lagos State Border Patrol Command.
Obieze, a native doctor and resident of Umuojor village in Isiagu Community, Enugu State, had earlier been declared wanted by the Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police Force. He is accused of being involved in the abduction of a 13-year-old girl on 27th May 2025, as well as alleged ritual killings. Reports indicate the young girl was seized while walking to the farm with her father and was later rescued from a shrine reportedly linked to the suspect.
Disturbingly, a pregnant woman was among several bodies allegedly discovered buried within the suspect’s compound, prompting a wider investigation into possible serial crimes.
A statement issued by the NIS Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, revealed that Obieze was apprehended through credible intelligence. He was found in possession of a National Identity Management Commission enrolment slip, which confirmed his identity.
“During initial questioning, he admitted to the alleged crimes,” the statement read.
The NIS has handed the suspect over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and prosecution. The agency also reaffirmed its commitment to national security and maintaining vigilance at the nation’s borders.
