Students of Lighthouse University, Evbuobanosa, have expressed immense satisfaction with the standard of learning and quality of life on campus, describing the institution as a beacon of academic and moral excellence.
During an interactive session with visiting journalists from Benin City, pioneer student Mr Aimuamwosa Nosa Joshua, studying Political Science, voiced his pride in being part of the institution. “I’m very happy; in fact, I feel blessed to be a student of Lighthouse University,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of his fellow students, Mr Joshua commended the university authorities for providing a conducive atmosphere for learning and moral development. “Everything needed for academic excellence is here. The environment is serene, the accommodation is excellent, and there’s uninterrupted power and water supply. With our committed lecturers, I have no excuse not to excel,” he added.
Echoing his sentiments, Miss Osayande Chukwudumebi, an Accounting student, lauded the university’s academic structure and modern facilities. “I came all the way from Lagos because of the standard of education Lighthouse University offers. It was founded by a highly respected man of God, Rev. (Dr.) Felix Omobude, who is deeply committed to ensuring that we are well-trained not only for academics but also for life after school,” she said.
Miss Chukwudumebi also highlighted the institution’s entrepreneurship training programmes, noting that they are equipping students with practical skills for future innovations and self-reliance.
Earlier, while speaking at the university’s permanent site in Evbuobanosa, along the Benin-Agbor Expressway, Chancellor Rev. (Dr.) Felix Omobude reaffirmed the university’s commitment to excellence. “In today’s world, there is no room for mediocrity. Our vision is to produce individuals who will stand before kings, not obscure men,” he said.
Dr Omobude stated that Lighthouse University is grounded in values of godliness, innovation, and growth. He assured Nigerians that the institution is fully equipped in terms of staff, infrastructure, and environment to achieve world-class status.
“We have worked tirelessly to lay a solid foundation and will continue to strive for continuous improvement. I call on individuals, organisations, and all levels of government to partner with us as we aim to bring about lasting transformation,” he added.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Anthony Imianvan, also showcased the university’s modern facilities and revealed that the National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved 15 academic programmes for the institution. These include degrees in Accounting, Computer Science, Political Science, Criminology and Security Studies, Microbiology, Business Administration, among others.
Prof. Imianvan led journalists on a tour of the state-of-the-art facilities including lecture theatres, an e-library, modern science laboratories, well-furnished male and female hostels, a medical clinic, and engineering workshops.
He encouraged parents and guardians to consider Lighthouse University as the ideal choice for their children’s higher education, assuring them of the institution’s unwavering commitment to academic and moral excellence.
The Vice Chancellor was accompanied on the tour by the university’s senior management, including the Registrar, Mr Olugbenga Olajide, and the Bursar, Dr Dominic Eichie.
