Prince Al Waleed, the eldest son of Prince Khaled bin Talal Al Saud and nephew to billionaire businessman Prince Al Waleed bin Talal, had been in a minimally conscious state since the age of 15 when the accident occurred while he was studying as a military cadet in London.
The accident left the young royal with severe brain trauma and internal injuries. Despite extensive medical treatment and consultations with leading specialists from the United States and Spain, he never regained full consciousness.
For nearly 19 years, Prince Al Waleed’s condition drew sympathy from across the Arab world and beyond, as his family maintained a constant vigil by his side.
