Our attention has been drawn to a pitiful piece of propaganda from one Gomez, who, in a desperate bid to stay relevant, attempted to smear the name of Senator Neda Imasuen by branding him a “political house boy in Abuja.” Such reckless talk is nothing more than the rambling of an idle pen mercenary, hired by self-serving perennial office seekers who have been serially rejected by the people of Edo South.
Let it be clear: Edo South is no longer a playground for political desperadoes without a second address, those whose only vocation is to recycle failed ambitions under the guise of “contesting” while enriching themselves. The people have seen through their antics and have moved on, leaving them stranded on the dustbin of history.
From day one, Senator Imasuen has proven his mettle. His record in less than two years dwarfs the hollow noise of his detractors. He has tabled substantive bills, including the establishment of a Federal College of Education in Abudu to tackle the shortage of qualified teachers, and an amendment to the Federal Medical Centres Act aimed at improving healthcare delivery nationwide. These are tangible contributions, not the beer-parlour rhetoric of men with no constituency relevance.
Beyond the chambers, Senator Imasuen has impacted lives directly. He has settled no fewer than nine citizens’ petitions, reinforcing his commitment to justice and accountability. He has offered scholarships to 420 students in higher institutions, provided full coverage scholarships for secondary school students, and even covered JAMB registration fees. His empowerment programmes for women, especially widows, and youth are practical investments in human capacity, not empty promises.
On infrastructure, his interventions include ongoing road projects and solar streetlight installations, enhancing both mobility and security across Edo South. In healthcare, his medical outreach programmes, support for traditional birth attendants, and supply of critical medical resources have saved countless lives. He has further empowered farmers with tools and inputs to strengthen food security, while annually distributing thousands of bags of rice to vulnerable groups.
Gomez’s blind spot is deliberate. He ignores these realities because he is a paid mouthpiece for failed political jobbers whose stock-in-trade is character assassination. His cheap scribbling cannot erase the fact that Senator Imasuen remains a voice for the voiceless and a doer for Edo South.
Gomez and his paymasters should take a cue: Edo South has moved on from transactional politics. Senator Imasuen’s achievements are visible, measurable, and far beyond the reach of their malicious fabrications. Noise cannot drown out performance, and certainly, lies cannot overshadow the truth.
