Senator Neda Imasuen has assured the people of Edo South Senatorial District of deeper democratic dividends and expanded empowerment programmes in 2026, as he expressed gratitude for their unwavering support throughout the past year.
In his New Year message, the senator said the trust and encouragement of constituents were central to the milestones recorded in 2025, describing the outgoing year as one marked by purposeful action and measurable progress.
Reflecting on his activities in the National Assembly, Imasuen noted that he remained focused on advancing people-centred legislation aimed at strengthening governance, promoting accountability and safeguarding the interests of Edo South constituents.
Beyond parliamentary duties, he said his office implemented empowerment initiatives targeted at youths, women, farmers and grassroots communities across the district, with the objective of delivering tangible socio-economic impact.
A major highlight of the year, according to the senator, was the debut of the Benin Unity Cup Football Tournament, which he described as a unifying platform for talent discovery and youth engagement. He revealed that 35 young footballers were identified through the tournament and are currently being professionally nurtured for both local and international opportunities.
Imasuen said the success of the tournament reaffirmed his commitment to youth development through sports, enterprise and structured opportunities that channel talent into productive careers.
Looking ahead to 2026, the lawmaker expressed confidence that sustained public support would translate into even greater democratic gains, including more inclusive policies, stronger empowerment schemes and broader opportunities for the people of Edo South.
He concluded by wishing residents and their families a healthy, peaceful and prosperous New Year, pledging continued collaboration in building a stronger Edo South and a better Nigeria.
