Dr Richard Osaro Edosa, the Member representing Oredo West Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, is steadily redefining grassroots representation through visible, people-focused interventions.
Across key neighbourhoods in Ward 6, solar-powered infrastructure now stands as a symbol of progress. At Iyeya Street, before Five Junction, residents now enjoy a solar-powered borehole complemented by a street light—providing both clean water and improved security.
Similar transformations have taken place at Efeyi Street, Iyobosa Street and Yoruba Street, all off Owoseni in New Benin, where solar street lights have illuminated previously dark corridors, enhancing safety and extending productive hours for residents.
Beyond infrastructure, Dr Edosa’s interventions have cut directly to the heart of household welfare. Employment opportunities have been facilitated for residents of Oredo Ward 6, easing the burden of joblessness and offering families renewed hope in a challenging economic climate.
His impact, however, extends beyond Ward 6 alone. In a constituency-wide push to expand access to education, Dr Edosa bankrolled JAMB registration fees for prospective students across Oredo West, with Ward 6 youths among the beneficiaries. For many families, the gesture removed a critical financial barrier and reopened the door to higher education.
Economic empowerment has also featured prominently in his legislative footprint. Residents across Oredo West Constituency, including Ward 6, have benefitted from the distribution of grinding machines and generators—tools designed to stimulate small-scale enterprise and boost household income. Complementing this effort, interest-free loans were extended to support petty traders and small business owners, helping them stay afloat and grow without the pressure of crippling repayment terms.
In a move aimed at preparing young people for the digital economy, Dr Edosa sponsored over 200 constituents for web design training at Amena Academy. Participants were drawn mainly from Oredo West, with some beneficiaries also from Oredo East, equipping a new generation with relevant, income-generating digital skills.
These projects, many of which have been publicly reported and independently verified, paint a clear picture of a lawmaker deeply invested in sustainable development, youth empowerment and improved living conditions.
For residents of Oredo Ward 6, the impact is tangible: brighter streets, better opportunities and a renewed sense that governance can indeed touch lives.
