A woman has been rescued by local vigilantes in Delta State after a chilling encounter with a man she reportedly met online, who allegedly lured her into a trap and robbed her.
According to reports, the suspect invited the woman out but, instead of taking her to a public place, allegedly diverted her to a secluded bush area with an accomplice.
The victim was reportedly tied to a tree, where she was held against her will.
During the ordeal, the suspects allegedly gained access to her bank details and transferred all the money from her account.
Sources said the woman was later discovered and rescued by members of a local vigilante group, bringing the frightening incident to an end.
The suspects are believed to have fled the scene, while efforts are expected to be underway to track them down.
As of the time of filing this report, the Delta State Police Command has not issued a statement to provide an update on the incident.
