Popular Nigerian comedian, skit maker and social media influencer, Samuel Perry, widely known as Broda Shaggi, has been hospitalised after he was reportedly shot in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.
Sources familiar with the incident said the shooting occurred on Sunday afternoon under the Sango-Ota bridge, where the entertainer was filming a comedy skit with members of his production crew.
Although the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, a police source who spoke anonymously disclosed that the incident happened during the filming session.
According to the source, the comedian sustained a gunshot wound while the skit was being recorded at the location.
“He was shooting a skit under the Sango-Ota bridge when the gunshot injury occurred. We are still trying to establish exactly how it happened, but members of his crew who were present quickly moved him out of the area,” the source said.
Following the incident, the injured entertainer was rushed to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos State, where medical personnel administered immediate first aid treatment.
Further details obtained by this online newspaper indicate that he was later referred to Duchess International Hospital for further medical care.
As of the time of filing this report, the comedian is said to be recuperating at the Ikeja-based medical facility while investigations continue to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
