The Edo State Football Association has announced a tentative date for the highly anticipated second edition of the Senator Neda Imasuen – Benin Unity Cup, with the tournament scheduled to hold between June and July 2026. Uptown Press reports.
Chairman of the FA, Fred Newton Ehrunwunse, disclosed the development, reaffirming the association’s commitment to grassroots football development and the use of sport as a tool for unity across Edo South.
The maiden edition of the competition, held in December 2025, proved to be a major success, bringing together teams from the seven Local Government Areas in Edo South in a colourful display of talent and sportsmanship. Egor Local Government Area emerged champions after a thrilling tournament that captivated football lovers across the district.
Riding on that success, expectations are high for an even bigger and more competitive outing this year, with fans set to witness top-quality matches that will further showcase the rich pool of football talent within the region.
Beyond the action on the pitch, the Benin Unity Cup continues to serve as a rallying point for unity, collaboration, and community engagement. The tournament also aligns with the broader vision of supporting the leadership and forthcoming Senate re-election bid of Neda Imasuen.
