From Joan Ebohon

My first day at Uptown Press Nigeria was definitely one for the books! I arrived at the NUJ Press Centre feeling a mix of anticipation and a little bit of nervousness, ready to dive in. The atmosphere was lively with everyone seeming so dedicated to their craft. I had the chance to meet a few of the team members, Osawese and co, in charge of graphics! They were quite warm.

The most significant part of my day was meeting my boss, the founder of Uptown Press, Mr Moshood Olawale,It was a really productive session, and our tutorial was incredibly insightful. He walked me through a lot of essential information, making sure I understood the workflow and expectations. His guidance was clear and encouraging, which really set a positive tone for my integration into the team.

After which, Mr Moshood Olawale took me to meet men of upper echelon with great minds. We started off by paying a visit to the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Council, Dr Festus Alenkhe. I was stunned,we took pictures altogether whilst strengthening ties.

In same line of action, a visit was also paid to the Chairman of the Edo State Online Media Practitioners, Mr Dada Samuel Ayokhai, he was really welcoming, we had a chit-chat followed by laughter here and there.

Overall, my first day was a fantastic introduction to Uptown Press Nigeria. I’m excited about the prospect of learning from everyone here and contributing to the impactful work that’s being done. It feels like the beginning of a great journey.

The NUJ Press Centre continues to serve as a hub for media professionals, fostering collaboration, mentorship, and skill development for both new and experienced practitioners.
