Obi/Kwankwaso Alliance Dead On Arrival — Kano Govt Spokesman Dismisses Proposed Ticket

The spokesperson to the Governor of Kano State, Sanusi Bature, has cast serious doubts over any proposed political alliance between Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking on The Morning Show on Wednesday, Bature described the rumoured Obi/Kwankwaso partnership as shocking and politically incompatible, insisting that such a ticket “cannot work.”

According to him, it was surprising to see Kwankwaso aligning with Obi despite previously portraying himself as more politically experienced and academically superior.

“When you see Obi in Kano, for us it is a big surprise because the same Kwankwaso who said he has a PhD is with Obi who has an undergraduate degree,” Bature said.

He further claimed that Kwankwaso had always viewed Obi as “a Biafra agent,” making the alleged alliance difficult for many of his supporters in Kano to understand.

“The same Kwankwaso who said he is more politically experienced than Obi, the same Kwankwaso who has seen Obi as just a Biafra agent is now craving to be his vice president,” he stated.

Bature maintained that the people of Kano would not embrace such a partnership, arguing that the former governor was known for being straightforward and focused on national development.

He, however, dismissed the alliance as temporary and politically unstable due to what he described as sharp differences in ideology and political orientation between both politicians.

“I don’t even think that this Obi/Kwankwaso ticket can work because the two of them have very different opinions and political views,” he added.

The comments are likely to intensify political debates over possible coalition talks among opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general election.
