The 5th Edition of the UBTH Interdepartmental & Interprofessional Games Competition commenced today, Monday, 25th May 2026, with the official kick-off of the football competition by the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu, ably represented by the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Dr. Emmanuel Osaigbovo.
This marked the official beginning of this yearโs highly anticipated games.
The opening fixture featured ๐ฃ๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ด๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ ๐๐ป๐ด๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ด / ๐๐๐ง ๐๐ at the prestigious ๐จ๐๐ง๐ ๐ฆ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐ ๐๐ผ๐บ๐ฝ๐น๐ฒ๐ , drawing members of the UBTH community including staff, students, and spectators who gathered to witness the exciting start of the games.
The match began with both teams displaying impressive skill, coordination, and determination, creating several chances and delivering an entertaining contest from the opening whistle.
The breakthrough came in the 30th minute when Sanusi (Jersey No. 2) of Porters FC opened the scoring to give his side the lead. Shortly after, Ohre doubled the advantage before the close of the first half.
The second half saw Engineering / ICT FC push to close the gap and find a way back into the game, creating moments of excitement and pressure. However, Porters FC remained composed and maintained their lead until the final whistle.
The match ended ๐ฃ๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ ๐ฎ โ ๐ฌ ๐๐ป๐ด๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ด / ๐๐๐ง ๐๐, with Porters FC recording the first victory of the 2026 UBTH Interdepartmental & Interprofessional Games Festival.
