Nigerian comedian Princewill has broken his silence after his ex-wife accused him of repeated domestic violence during their marriage, admitting to slapping her twice while denying allegations of sustained abuse.
In a video posted online, Princewill said he had initially prepared a detailed response to the accusations but decided against releasing it after consulting his pastor, who advised him to exercise restraint.
According to the comedian, he deleted most of the material he had planned to publish out of respect for their children and to prevent the dispute from escalating further.
Addressing the allegations, Princewill rejected several of the claims made by his former wife, insisting he continued to support her financially even after their separation by contributing to her rent, healthcare and other living expenses.
He, however, acknowledged that he slapped his ex-wife on two occasions during their marriage, saying he was not proud of his actions and had apologised for them.
Princewill also levelled a counter-accusation, alleging that his ex-wife was unfaithful during their marriage but claiming he chose to remain silent for years in an effort to protect their family.
The exchange has intensified public attention on the former couple’s marital dispute, with both parties now presenting conflicting accounts of what transpired during their relationship.
