The Edo State Police Command has congratulated Monday Agbonika on his promotion and official decoration as an Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), describing the elevation as a fitting reward for his outstanding leadership and remarkable contributions to policing in the state.
Agbonika was decorated by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja.
In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikioedem, the Command praised Agbonika’s transformative leadership since he assumed office as the 50th Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, on April 8, 2025.
According to the statement, Agbonika introduced intelligence-led policing strategies, strategic operational redeployment and strengthened collaboration with other security agencies and community stakeholders, significantly improving security across Edo State.
The Command credited him with personally leading proactive operations that recorded major breakthroughs against cultism, kidnapping and other violent crimes, saying the sustained offensive restored public confidence and reduced criminal activities to the barest minimum.
It also commended his commitment to community policing, discipline and zero tolerance for police unprofessionalism, noting that these initiatives further strengthened public trust in the Edo State Police Command.
Describing his promotion as well deserved, the Command expressed confidence that Agbonika’s experience, professionalism and leadership qualities would continue to make a positive impact on the Nigeria Police Force and the nation’s internal security as he takes on his new responsibilities.
The statement wished the newly decorated AIG greater success, sound health and wisdom in the discharge of his higher national assignment.
