The Edo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting digital education, saying technology-driven learning remains key to equipping students with the skills needed to succeed in the modern world.

The government made this known at the unveiling of the TETFund-sponsored Electronic Education Initiative (E-DON) at the Federal College of Education (FCE), Ekiadolor. It also applauded the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) and TETFund for championing digital transformation in tertiary institutions.

Representing Governor Monday Okpebholo at the event, the state’s representative described the deployment of the E-DON 98-inch QR Interactive Smart Board, integrated with 3D Animation Educational Software, as a major boost to teaching and learning through locally developed technology.

The representative said the initiative reflects the importance of embracing indigenous innovation in education, adding that students should have access to quality digital learning tools that will prepare them with the knowledge, creativity and skills needed to compete globally.

According to the government, the growing role of artificial intelligence and digital technology in education makes it necessary for institutions to embrace innovation in order to produce graduates who can contribute meaningfully to national development.

It noted that the project is more than the introduction of new teaching equipment, describing it as a step towards creating a more interactive, inclusive and engaging learning environment for both lecturers and students.
