There was drama at the popular Tombia Market in Etegwe, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, after the state security outfit, Bayelsa Volunteer, apprehended a man identified as Chukwuemeka Okonkwo over the alleged theft of two packets of baby diapers.
Okonkwo was reportedly apprehended after he was allegedly found in possession of the diapers, said to have been taken from a storage area within the market.
Information gathered at the scene indicated that the suspect allegedly gained access to the store and removed the two packets of diapers before he was caught.
His apprehension reportedly attracted the attention of traders and other members of the public at the busy market, with the incident causing a stir among those who witnessed the development.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged theft, including how Okonkwo gained access to the storage area, were not immediately clear as of the time of filing this report.
The Bayelsa State Government had yet to issue an official statement concerning the incident.
