In Sagbama LGA, a new Acting Chairman, Hon. (Mrs.) Diepriye Roseline Yankee-Robinson is now in charge and the Local Government administration is calm and secured.
Her enthronement after the State House of Assembly removed the Former Chairman, Hon. Alice Allen Tangi and the Deputy, Hon. Sufade Jefferson Tobi over alleged gross misconduct.
While many loyalists of the present administration believes the Rt Hon Abraham Ingobere led State Assembly action was necessary, others loyal to the opposition claimed it is wrong and politically motivated.
But for the intervention of Political Leaders of the APC in Sagbama Local Council area such as the State Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Akpe, the State Commissioner of Finance, Mr. Maxwell Ebibai and others, the council administration must not experience vacuum.
Under the few months of assuming the Chairmanship position, Hon. (Mrs.) Diepriye Roseline Yankee-Robinson, has displayed capacity and winning the trust of the key stakeholders including heads of security agencies of the council, Traditional rulers and the Youths.
Yankee-Robinson has so far shown that transiting from the Councillors hip position into the acting capacity Chairman of the Council administration is an assignment in which she must not fail.

Presiding over the meeting, the Chairman emphasized the need for peace and security across Sagbama LGA, calling for teamwork among security agencies.
She urged all stakeholders to remain sober, vigilant, and proactive in monitoring happenings within their communities and environment.
Hon. Diepriye further stated that for the LGA to achieve the vision of the Assured Prosperity Government there must be teamwork and a commitment to doing things differently.
She stressed that the goal is to make the environment safe and conducive for farmers, businessmen, and all residents alike.
Reaffirming her leadership style, the Acting Chairman reiterated that her administration will operate an open-door policy and remains committed to partnering with security agencies to ensure the safety of lives and property in Sagbama LGA.
Political loyalty
For many political actors in Sagbama Local Government, the emergence of the emergence of Hon. (Mrs.) Diepriye Roseline Yankee-Robinson as the acting Chairman is not surprising.
Despite the fact that she has struggled for political relevance in Sagbama LGA and Bayelsà at large, her emergence has confirmed her as one of the many political actors in the council for the All Progressive Congress (APC) as the state approach the 2027 polls.
As the former leader of the 11th Legislative Assembly of the local government before her elevation and a leading member of the South+South Councillors forum,Yankee-Robinson Members has also received support from the councillors with the legislative forum and councillors expressing readiness to cooperate with the new acting chairperson to ensure grassroots development and security stability in the local government area
Yankee-Robinson, in her moment of thanksgiving has however attributed, 2has attributed her elevation to the position to divine intervention, saying she laboured politically for 15 years before God opened the way for her.
Yankee-Robinson, who gave the testimony recently at Dunamis Church, Yenagoa, said her emergence as acting chairman was not part of her original plans but a demonstration of God’s power.
“This was not what I planned, but God did it and turned me 360 degrees around from my level,” she said.
The acting chairman recalled her years of political service, noting that she had served as the leader of the 11th Legislative Assembly of the local government before her elevation, “We have a church, but we needed to come to a stronger church for spiritual protection,” she said.
Yankee-Robinson gave glory to God for her elevation, saying her political journey had been marked by years of labour and perseverance.
“For fifteen years I laboured politically, but God has rested me,” she said.
She urged the congregation to continue praying for her as she settles into office, expressing hope that her tenure would be marked by peace, unity and progress in Sagbama Local Government Area.
Recall that Yankee- Robinson’s her appointment came after the Bayelsa State House of Assembly approved the removal of the elected chairman of Sagbama Local Government Area, Mrs. Alice Tangi Allen, and her vice, Sufade Jefferson Tobi, on August 18, 2026.
In response to her show of capacity and political grip of the council administration, the Indigenes and youths of Agbere community in Sagbama Local Government have shown solidarity and declared their loyalty to the ruling party of the All a progressive Congress (APC) and the leadership of Mr. Maxwell Ebibai, the Honorable Commissioner for Finance, Bayelsa State.
It was a massive show of solidarity in Agbere Community yesterday, September 5, 2026 as youths, women, and men took to the streets in a one-day solidarity rally.
The rally was in total support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Mr. Maxwell Ebibai, the Honorable Commissioner for Finance, Bayelsa State.
The rally, which drew participants from the four quarters of Agbere, Tambiri, Kakarabiri, Tuburukunu, and Ayama, was described as a clear message of unity and appreciation for the development strides recorded in the community under the current administration.
Speaking at the event, community leaders praised Hon. Maxwell Ebibai for his direct intervention in key sectors across Agbere.
They noted visible projects including improved healthcare services through free medical outreaches, a world-class Cottage Hospital and art of the world Corpers Lodge.
Monthly stipends for women, youths and widows, network of roads across all quarters, and financial inclusion initiatives for traders.
“We cannot tell the story of Agbere’s progress without mentioning the Commissioner for Finance. The results are visible and they touch lives,” one of the speakers stated.
The leaders further noted that the solidarity rally was also a vote of confidence in the APC and the leadership of the Bayelsa State Government.
They said the people of Agbere are committed to peace, unity and continued investment in development, and are ready to stand with leaders who have delivered tangible results to the grassroots.
In his remarks, stakeholders described the turnout as proof that Agbere is ready for the future.
“Agbere says yes to APC. Agbere says yes to Hon. Maxwell Ebibai. Because of these results, we go again with him”.
The highlight of the day was the tug-of-war contest between Agbere residents and their guests from Yenagoa, which ended in victory for the Agbere team.
