The Sun Newspapers has nominated Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, for its 2026 Governor of the Year Award.
The nomination was formally conveyed to the governor on Thursday when the Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of The Sun Newspapers, Onuoha Ukeh, presented the nomination letter to Alia at the Benue State Government House in Makurdi.
The nomination places Governor Alia among the governors being considered by the newspaper for recognition under its prestigious annual awards programme.
Ukeh personally presented the letter to the governor, signalling the newspaper’s recognition of Alia’s administration and its performance in Benue State.
The 2026 Governor of the Year award is expected to highlight outstanding leadership, governance and developmental contributions by state governors across the country.
