The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old man, Mohammed Manfred Abdulramah, for allegedly impersonating a military personnel while travelling along the Auchi-Okene Expressway.
The suspect was arrested by personnel of the 195 Battalion, Aganebode, stationed at Okpella, according to the command’s spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem.
Abdulramah, who was reportedly travelling from Warri to Okene, was intercepted while wearing military camouflage trousers and a vest.
Preliminary investigation by the authorities reportedly established that the suspect is not a member of the military.
The Police further said the suspect allegedly obtained the military clothing from a Navy officer in Niger State.
His arrest has prompted further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the possession and use of the military uniform, as authorities work to establish the full extent of the alleged impersonation.
The command is expected to provide further details as investigation progresses.
