Panic erupted on Wednesday along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway after a bus branded with the logo of the City Boy Movement, a support group associated with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was involved in a ghastly road crash near Ibadan, Oyo State.
The accident reportedly occurred along the busy expressway as the bus was travelling towards Ibadan, triggering frantic rescue efforts by passersby and motorists who stopped to assist occupants of the vehicle.
Eyewitnesses at the scene said the bus, identified by the City Boy Movement branding, was badly involved in the crash, although the exact circumstances surrounding the accident remained unclear as of press time.
The cause of the crash had yet to be established, while details about the number of people travelling in the vehicle were also unavailable.
Videos and photographs from the scene reportedly showed the damaged bus and motorists making efforts to assist those who may have been trapped or injured.
The incident also caused traffic congestion along the affected stretch of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as efforts were made to manage the wreckage and restore the free flow of traffic.
Men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other emergency responders were said to have been contacted and were expected to arrive at the scene.
As of the time of filing this report, there was no official confirmation of fatalities, while the number of possible injuries and the extent of damage to the vehicle remained unknown.
