The Green Circuit Association International, also known as the Maphite cult group, has commended Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo over what it described as his bold efforts to tackle cult-related violence, kidnapping and other security challenges in the state.

The group expressed its appreciation in a letter addressed to Governor Okpebholo and signed by its International Secretary, Kester Oktüidaye GCAL, on Thursday.

According to the group, the governor’s administration has prioritised security since assuming office, resulting in what it described as improved safety, peace and confidence among residents.

“Since your assumption of office as the Executive Governor of Edo State, the priority and attention your administration has given to security have been highly commendable,” the letter stated.

The group further claimed that the administration had “put a final stop to the incessant killings associated with secret cult activities in the State”, while also tackling kidnapping “with the seriousness it deserves.”

It said the security measures had contributed to a renewed sense of safety and confidence among residents.

“We sincerely commend your courage, determination, and commitment to protecting lives and property,” the group stated.

The Maphite group also expressed appreciation to the governor for what it described as his service and dedication to the people of Edo State.

“Once again, we say a very big thank you, Your Excellency, for your service and dedication to the people of Edo State,” the letter added.

While the group’s commendation represents its own assessment of the State’s security situation, the extent to which cult-related killings and kidnapping have declined would ultimately depend on independently verifiable crime and security data.

The development comes as the Edo State Government continues to place security among its major priorities, with authorities facing persistent pressure to sustain efforts against cult violence, kidnapping and other criminal activities across the State.
