Twenty National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who were rescued after spending seven days in captivity in a forest in Imo State have reunited with their families in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The corps members were freed on Wednesday following a harrowing week in captivity, bringing relief to their families who had been anxiously awaiting their safe return.
TheCable reports that security operatives debriefed the victims before handing them over to their parents during the reunion in Ibadan.
Speaking briefly after reuniting with her family, one of the rescued corps members, Akande Morenikeji, described their seven days in captivity as mentally and physically draining.
Her account offered a glimpse into the ordeal endured by the victims during their time in the forest.
The 20 corps members were reportedly abducted while travelling from Ibadan to their respective National Youth Service Corps orientation camps in Abia and Akwa Ibom states.
Their release followed security operations that secured their freedom after days of uncertainty over their fate.
