Over 500 cultists on Monday renounced their membership of various cult groups as the Edo State Government commenced its mass cultism renunciation ceremony at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub on Airport Road, Benin City.

The exercise, initiated under the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo, offers individuals involved in cultism an opportunity to abandon violence, renounce their affiliations and embrace a new path.

The mass renunciation ceremony is part of the state government’s efforts to tackle cult-related activities, promote peace and strengthen security across Edo State.

The government has urged other cultists willing to turn away from violence to take advantage of the initiative and publicly renounce their membership of cult groups.
