Former governor of CrossRiver State, Donald Duke on Wednesday, said that the #EndSars symbolizes the day the Nigerian youths united as one to make their voices heard and not only ask for an end to police brutality but also to demand good governance from our leaders.
He made this known in an update on his verified social media handle.
According to the former governor, the #EndSARS symbolizes a day when the youths took ownership of the future of the country and made all their concerns and grievances known, yet the question of if we have failed our youth begs to be answered.
He continued: “The ownership of the country belongs to all of us and even our unborn generations, we as leaders today are merely custodians of the country and we owe the generations coming after us a good legacy which they can build on.
“The carnage that happened as a result of the attack on the protesters by security agencies remains a very sore point and it should serve as a lesson to government on how not to respond to the grievances of Nigerians.
“As we remember the sad event of a year ago today, it serves as an opportunity for our leaders to reflect on what went wrong and resolve to serve and protect the Nigerian people as they were elected to do.”
