A source at the palace in Oyo State told Uptown Press on Saturday that his wives are free to move on with their lives after the death of Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III.
The source said:
“They are not performing any cleansing; they are free to move on with their lives,” the Oyo chief said.
He added, “Now that Alaafin is dead, they will all be asked to exit the palace with their belongings.” Although the properties of the late monarch would be shared among them,
He explained that, according to tradition, none of the wives is allowed to marry an Oyo indigene.
They can marry or date any man from anywhere, but not with an Oyo indigene.
