Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has taken a decisive step in blocking military access to the Aba-Port Harcourt road, effectively halting their movement into neighbouring Rivers State. This development comes as tensions rise over an alleged military operation.
Before any official announcement from the Governor, thousands of Abia youths took to the streets, forming a barricade along the strategic route in protest. The demonstrators made it clear they would not allow military forces to pass through their state.
Governor Otti later lent his support to the protest, asserting, “We cannot grant you passage through our land to invade our brothers in Rivers State. Allowing such an attack would be a crime against our people. If you must proceed, use the air, but we won’t give you access by road.”
The situation has intensified this morning, with reports indicating that over 100,000 youths have gathered in the area to reinforce their stance. They have vowed to resist any attempt by the military to force their way through, and the road remains blocked as of now.
