As the 2027 general elections draw nearer, renowned cleric and leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has issued a stark warning to some Nigerian state governors, cautioning that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition platform could unseat them if they fail to take appropriate action.

In a statement released by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, the outspoken cleric stated that a number of sitting governors would struggle to secure re-election unless they resort to electoral malpractice. According to him, only hard work and divine intervention will guarantee a second term in office for many of them.

“Some Nigerian governors will be removed from power by ADC if care isn’t taken. They will find it difficult to get re-elected in their respective states. In a truly free and fair election, they won’t win — only rigging will save them,” Primate Ayodele said.

He warned that many leaders currently in office are underestimating the strength of the ADC coalition and may only realise its growing influence when it is too late. “They should not look down on the ADC platform. They may not feel the pressure now, but they must be extremely cautious,” he added.

Primate Ayodele previously named several governors who he believes must intensify their efforts if they hope to retain their seats in 2027. Among those mentioned were the governors of Akwa Ibom, Delta, Enugu, Cross River, Kaduna, Zamfara, and Ondo states.

“Their re-election is not guaranteed,” he said. “They must work very hard and also seek divine guidance. This is a warning — a hint of what lies ahead.”

Known for his political predictions, Primate Ayodele has been vocal about the spiritual dimensions of Nigeria’s political landscape. His latest forecast suggests that the ADC, often seen as a minor party on the national stage, could emerge as a disruptive force capable of altering the status quo — particularly if the electorate demands change.

As political parties begin to position themselves for 2027, observers say the warning may serve as a wake-up call not only to the named governors but to others who may have grown complacent in power.
