Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola has clinched the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship ticket in Osun State, securing a resounding victory just hours after former Governor Ademola Adeleke abruptly resigned from the party.

Adedamola won the primary held on Tuesday at Adolak Hall in Osogbo, polling an overwhelming 919 votes out of 957 cast. His closest rival had earlier withdrawn, contributing to the 20 void votes recorded during the exercise.

Announcing the outcome, chairman of the PDP governorship primary committee, Humphrey Abba, declared Adedamola the duly elected candidate, stating: “The candidate that got the remaining votes is Adebayo Adedamola with 919 votes and stands elected and returned.”

Adedamola’s emergence follows Adeleke’s unexpected resignation from the PDP, a move that reshaped the race and cleared the field for new contenders.

With the primary concluded, the PDP now turns its focus to rallying support ahead of the gubernatorial election, where Adedamola will lead the party’s charge to reclaim Osun’s top seat.
