Nigerian international and Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has formally submitted a transfer request to Serie A side Atalanta, expressing his desire to join Italian giants Inter Milan.
The development was confirmed on Sunday by renowned football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who revealed via X (formerly Twitter) that Lookman has become increasingly frustrated with Atalanta’s refusal to accept multiple offers from Inter.
“EXCL: Ademola Lookman has now handed in a transfer request. The Nigerian forward has officially asked Atalanta to leave the club after Italian side rejected Inter opening bid. Lookman wants to join Inter,” Romano posted.
The 26-year-old winger, who played a pivotal role in Atalanta’s UEFA Europa League triumph last season, is believed to be eager for a new challenge and sees Inter as the ideal next step in his career. Sources close to the player say he views the move as a chance to compete regularly for major domestic and European honours.
Lookman, who joined Atalanta from RB Leipzig in 2022, has enjoyed an impressive spell in Bergamo, with standout performances in both Serie A and European competitions. His form has attracted interest from several top clubs, but Inter are reportedly leading the chase.
