The Acting Chairman, Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), Mr.Emmanuel Agema ACTI and the management team, today, visited the police headquarters on a courtesy call.
The Chairman felicitated with Commissioner of Police, CP. Bartholomew Nnamdi Onyeka on his resumption to duty as Commissioner of Police,Benue State Command.
Mr. Agema stated that Security(police) is Paramount for effective generation of revenue for the State. He therefore, empasized that BIRS cannot efficiently work without the police, Hence, the need for collaboration with the police to clamp down illegal checkpoints from the state.
The Tax boss particularly notified the Comissioner of Police of the activities of miscreants who extort money and harras the pubic on our roads particularly Ihugh, Gboko and Northbank and appealed that the Police look in to the issue.
The Commissioner of Police while responding appreciated Mr. Agema and his management team for the visit. He stated that such illegalities are not allien to him as he had dealt with such criminals in his previous postings.
Cp.Onyeka requested that the Benue state internal Revenue Service provide them a list of all the gazetted inspection and monitoring points and symbols that would enable the police recognise BIRS staff to enhance their operations.
The Commissioner stated that there is no room for lawlessness in the state. Therefore, He promised to support Benue State Internal Revenue Service in taking down illegal checkpoint operators and restoring law and order in the state.
