Uyo- Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has announced the release of ₦4.755 billion aimed at improving the well-being of civil servants and enhancing public service efficiency.
This allocation is a crucial part of Governor Eno’s ARISE Agenda, which prioritizes the welfare and development of the state’s workforce.
Speaking at the announcement, Governor Eno emphasized his commitment to the promises made during his campaign. “Taking care of our civil servants and ensuring their well-being is a key component of our ARISE Agenda,” he stated.
“This release of funds is a testament to our dedication to improving the lives of those who serve our state diligently.”
The funds have been meticulously allocated to various sectors, ensuring a broad impact across different categories of public service workers and educational initiatives. Here is a detailed breakdown of the allocations:
– Gratuities: ₦2.3 billion has been set aside for the payment of gratuities to retired state civil servants, primary school teachers, and local government workers. This gesture aims to honor and support those who have dedicated their careers to public service.
-Wardrobe Allowance for Teachers: Over 20,000 teachers in the state will benefit from a one-off Wardrobe Allowance payment totaling ₦1.1 billion. This initiative is designed to provide teachers with additional support and recognition for their contributions to education.
– Bonuses for Public Service Workers:As promised during the Public Service Week, ₦1 billion has been allocated for bonuses to public service workers. This bonus is a token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication.
– Scholarships: ₦79 million has been earmarked for scholarships for Akwa Ibom indigenes at the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology. This investment in education will help cultivate future professionals in the aviation sector.
– Leave Grant for Primary School Teachers: The first tranche payment of ₦104 million for the 2024 primary school teachers’ Leave Grant has been disbursed. This grant supports teachers in taking well-deserved breaks and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
– Severance Gratuity for Local Government Leaders: A sum of ₦172 million has been allocated as severance gratuity for former local government council Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen, recognizing their service and contributions to local governance.
