The dispute between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan took a fresh turn on Saturday as her husband, Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan, publicly called for Akpabio to accord his wife the respect she deserves.

Uduaghan, the Alema of Warri Kingdom, issued a press statement expressing his dismay over the situation, stating that he had initially chosen to remain silent but felt compelled to speak out due to recent developments.

“My wife is the greatest joy of my life, and I would never trade her for anything,” he affirmed, adding that the ongoing controversy was an unnecessary distraction from more pressing national matters.

He reiterated that Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan was duly elected by the people of Kogi Central Senatorial District, who placed their trust in her to provide effective representation.

Describing her as a woman of integrity and dedication, Uduaghan disclosed that she had confided in him regarding her encounters with Akpabio, whom he considered a family friend. In an effort to ease tensions, he said he had approached the matter with diplomacy, meeting with the Senate President to seek an amicable resolution.

Despite their discussions and an apparent agreement to maintain mutual respect, Uduaghan expressed concern that his wife continued to face harassment.

He urged Akpabio and the Senate to uphold the principles of respect and decorum while awaiting any legal resolutions on the matter.
