Obasanjo many believed is doing the groundwork for Obi in the North without saying it. The man doesn’t like Atiku because he has said it both publicly and privately. It was a tug of war between them during his tenure and having him as vice. He said that one of the biggest mistakes of his life was having Atiku as vice and that it was only God that saved him.
On Tinubu, he fought with him when Tinubu was Governor and he was President. He seized Lagos State allocation for over 14 months over the creation of additional local Governments and they went to court until Tinubu won and got the money when another Government came in. So there has forever been no love lost between both men.
Obi has always been in Obasanjo’s good book because he’s always done the right thing. Obasanjo is no Saint, but his ulterior motives for Nigeria I believe are good, except for the role he played during the Biafra war which wasn’t good( but that is for another day’s story).
His recent visit to Ango Abdullahi one of the greatest political figures of the North today not to support Atiku and Tinubu as reported would tell you, who he is campaigning for.
Now, Obi has to go to the North himself after the preparation of Obasanjo and hold meetings with the Northern stakeholders and with the Northern people and tell them what he is for. A good market sells itself.
Obi does not need to preach to the choristers on social media anymore, he got it. He needs to go to the grey places-the North and sell his product. No one rejects sugar and everyone needs water when they are thirsty. He has them both; quench the thirst of their throats and sweeten their bitter foods that their leaders who had ruled for over 30 years of this Nigerian Project have failed to do.
Their lands have suffered massive insecurity and economic hardship most of all regions, yet they have held power 75% of the time in Nigeria. It’s deceit laced in religious garb and hidden in ethnic sentiments. Obi will expose that lie if he goes to them and would peel off votes from Tinubu and Atiku even if he doesn’t win them all.
The moment is now for the taking, Obi need to ride on the horse of Obasanjo and go to the North as the trader that he is and sell his nice goods and leave the rest to destiny, fate and the hand of God in men.
